Save Our Homes by Voting “NO Sales Tax” on Real Estate

NO SALES TAX - SAVE OUR HOMES

I am urging all of my Realtor and fellow Home Builder friends to vote for Romney/Ryan on November 6th. I have dozens of reasons, but most importantly, it is the assault on private property rights contained in many new rules and legislation coming from Washington and the Obama administration.

The Health Care program put forth by the Obama administration, in particular, contains many egregious provisions. The 3.8% sales tax on real estate represents a slippery slope for eventual taxation of all home sales and the federal control of real estate transactions. Affordable housing has been our goal and this sales tax on real estate is a threat by adding more and more costs to transactions. It also makes home ownership less attractive as a good investment.

The sales tax on real estate property transactions is also a threat to the livelihood of Home Builders and Realtors. I can envision a federal licensing requirement for real estate agents! It has happened in the remodeling business with EPA rules for lead-based paint contractors!

I have been disappointed that this issue of the 3.8% sales tax on real estate transactions has not raised more of an outcry from our industry. Romney has vowed to repeal Obamacare and that would be a great start toward getting the federal government out of home sales!
